If you had them saved, and haven't checked your trash can they may be there. If you have emptied your trash can since the file went missing then it is a harder thing to do. I would also go under the "apple" icon in the upper left corner and check the "recent items". Good luck. That's about all I got.
 

Thanks, it was actually my brother's girlfriend's photos from their trip here and they were able to retrieve them yesterday. Love the cowbell "photo" btw!
